Alan Tulla FSLL, FILP, is an experienced lighting professional. He is both a qualified engineer and award-winning lighting designer. He is a Fellow and Past President of the Society of Light and Light and holds their Diploma in Lighting. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Lighting Professionals.
Following many years in technical management for lighting equipment manufacturers, he worked as a specialist architectural lighting designer for engineering consultancies. Since starting his own consultancy, he has won several awards for his lighting designs.
He has lived and worked both in France and the Middle East.
For many years he edited and wrote articles for the Society of Light and Lighting newsletter, Light Lines.
2016 Principal author and Chair of Task Group for SLL Lighting Guide “The Exterior Environment”.
2015: Interviewed by BBC One Show for UNESCO/SLL Night of Heritage Light. 2014: Alan was invited by Malaysian National Energy Company (TNB)to give a 2-day seminar, "Advances in Streetlighting Technology in Kuala Lumpur. 2014 Wrote 140-page book “Connecting LEDs” This was commissioned by Philips Lighting.
2012 Technical Editor of Lux magazine and Lux Review.
2011 Founded Alan Tulla Lighting consultancy.
2011 Made a Fellow of Institution of Lighting Professionals, ILP. 2010-2011 President of Society of Light and Lighting. Made a Fellow of the Society. 2005-2009 Editor of the SLL Newsletter. Advisory editor for CIBSE Journal. 2005 Elected member of the Executive and Council of SLL
